Overview of the role

The 3D Design Co-ordinator will be responsible for managing the CAD and information modelling of the facility and any ongoing projects. This will involve surveying and developing new and existing site layouts and working with the projects departments to envisage new designs and coordinating this information throughout the business as required using appropriate tools. The ideal candidate will have had previous experience of clash detection of site services with structural elements of the project/building.

Main duties/role and responsibilities

  • Site plans and schematic layouts, 2D and 3D
  • Onsite surveying
  • System layouts, HVAC, Piping and Power Distribution
  • Co-ordinate and lead design reviews, clash detection
  • Governance of the 3D building model (digital twin)
  • Collaboration with stakeholders and engineers to produce 3D layouts
  • Change control and asset information management
  • Reality capture and processing

Hazard-specific / Safety-critical duties

This job includes the following hazards or safety-critical activities:

  • Working at height (ladders, scissor lifts, cherry pickers & scaffolding)
  • Occasional working outside of office hours
  • Driving on Company business
  • Regular manual handling
  • Working with or in the vicinity of equipment that produces high magnetic fields
  • Working with materials that are managed under the control of substances hazardous to health regulations (COSHH)

Experience required

  • Minimum of HNC in engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of Inventor, Autocad and Navisworks – or similar
  • Knowledge and use of point cloud data
  • Understanding Data centric, multi-disciplinary modelling
  • Managing own workload and ability to work independently
  • Project engineering – analysis and research
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced and demanding environment
  • Use of LIDAR
  • Ability to produce equipment & system specifications
  • Membership of a professional body
  • Knowledge of Teamcenter
