Overview of the role

Tokamak Energy is growing fast and there is the need to develop the organisation and implement new tools and processes to ensure the technical teams can increase effectiveness and retain agility as we grow.  We are therefore looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who can work across the team to identify problems, develop solutions and implement change and support the organisation with the delivery of key supporting processes and services. This is an exciting new role that will have a transformational impact on our ability to deliver our aspirational growth plans.

In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with the Engineering and Technology Director and the Transformation Director to identify key organisational and process change priorities within the technical functions and develop aligned plans that support these
  • Follow the agreed transformation plan and work with key stakeholders across the technical organisation to develop and implement changes to the culture, ways of working, processes and governance and ensure all affected teams and individuals are appropriately consulted, fully engaged and changes are truly beneficial and sustainable
  • Develop, implement, and run a new resource demand vs capacity management process. The solution is to be developed in close alignment with key stakeholders (Programme Management, Functional Managers and Finance) and needs to be efficient and agile
  • Support the functional organisation with all aspects of resource and external spend budgeting activities ensuring these meet the requirements of Finance and are fully bought into by all functional managers
  • Support the functional organisation with key aspects of managing the recruitment and ensure recruitment activities always remain aligned with the agreed budget
  • Support the Engineering and Technology Director with key departmental governance and delivery activities

Requirements and attributes we value:

  • Experience working in a technical or engineering organisation and have a very good understanding of technical and business processes, organisational design and the challenges facing effective delivery in a fast-changing, technical, matrix organisation.
  • Extensive experience in resource and budget management and understand how to translate prior experience into creative solutions that work effectively in new environment
  • Passionate about organisational improvement and have successfully implemented change in a range of environments and understand the key building blocks for successful change management
  • Excellent communication with a track record of being able to build strong and lasting relationships with key stakeholders across an organisation and be known for being “easy to do business with”
  • Service delivery mind-set and work with all stakeholders on transformation projects and with customers of the services you provide to ensure the job gets done
  • Experience of working in organisations that have grown rapidly from small start-ups to larger scale and contribute to Tokamak Energy’s development on this journey.
  • Excellent decision-making, planning and organising skills developed in technical leadership and/or programme management roles
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline
