Contracts Manager

The role

Tokamak Energy has a requirement for a Contracts Manager to take the lead in the development, negotiation and implementation of a wide range of contracts and agreements

Responsibilities

  • To develop, negotiate and implement a wide range of contracts and agreements (including supply of materials and services, research and development agreements, construction agreements, consultancy agreements)
  • Define and implement, in collaboration with colleagues, an improved suite of agreements and commercial terms to cover associated risks as the company rapidly scales
  • Oversee the contract review process to ensure that delays and bottlenecks are minimised
  • Assist the Purchasing teams with the contractual aspects of supplier engagements to ensure consistency and quality of agreements
  • Work closely with the Purchasing team to ensure that agreements flow into the purchasing and eventual inventory system
  • To lead and support contract negotiations
  • Act as primary interface with legal advisors to ensure contracts are legally sound
  • Develop, implement and manage the Contracts Database with the associated control processes for contractual management
  • Ensure supplier adherence to contractual responsibilities on longer term projects

Selection criteria

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent with experience of working in a high tech, engineering or project delivery environment
  • Have experience negotiating a wide range of contracts of varying sizes
  • A knowledge of intellectual property rights
  • Have an eye for detail and enjoy reviewing/proofing contracts
  • Have had responsibility for agreeing or approving contractual terms with clients/suppliers
  • Experience of mitigating contractual risk
  • Familiar with the legal requirements of contracts and able to confidently determine when it is appropriate to defer to legal advisors
  • An experienced negotiator and able to secure positive outcomes for the company
  • A team player, who is able to build trust and establish strong relationships across the business to secure support from people not under your direct responsibility
  • A flexible individual who is able to balance multiple requirements, whilst delivering a high standard of results

Desirable selection criteria

  • Any experience of JCT or NEC contracts would be advantageous
