What apprenticeships are currently on offer?

L3 Engineering Technician 42 months

As a Tokamak Energy L3 Engineering Technician Apprentice you will have the opportunity to work across all our technical delivery teams under the guidance and support of our highly skilled and experienced team members.

The majority of your first year will be spent offsite at OAS, our chosen training provider based in Culham. During this time, you will learn a breadth of engineering skills required for the workplace.

During years two to four, you will be given a training programme consisting of a series of placements where you will have the opportunity to apply your technical skills and learning.

Throughout your apprenticeship you will have dedicated support from the team at Tokamak Energy who will visit you on a regular basis and also arrange for you to come and meet the team onsite at Milton Park.

Tokamak Energy offers the combination of a research and development, maintenance and manufacturing environment for you to work within, through this you will experience working in a delivery focused and innovative workplace. You will have the opportunity to grow in confidence, learn to work as part of a team and solve problems on a daily basis.

FAQs

What qualifications do I need?

You will need at least 5 GCSEs A*-C, or 4-9, including Maths and English (and Science for some apprenticeships) to enrol on the Tokamak Energy apprenticeship scheme. Maths and English can also be achieved through additional study via the training provider under the apprenticeship scheme prior to End Point Assessment (EPA).

Will there be exams?

The apprenticeships that we offer are assessed through a mix of coursework, practical assessments and exams or end point assessments. Each qualification is different. More details are available on the job advert.

Where will I be based?

This will depend on which apprenticeship you complete. The training aspect of our Engineering Technician Apprenticeship will be based at Culham Science Centre at Oxford Advanced Skills (OAS) and the workplace experience will be at our head office on Milton Park.

Am I guaranteed a job at Tokamak Energy upon completion?

There is a very likely chance of a job opportunity following successful completion of an apprenticeship with us.

Undergraduate student placements / internships

Being a student offers many rewards, however taking time out to gain experience in the workplace can be invaluable. Tokamak Energy offers a range of student placements throughout the summer months, which offer the opportunity to work alongside world leading scientists, engineers and other technical and business professionals. Our summer placements will give you exposure to exciting projects and a variety of workplace tasks within a field related to your studies.
