The US Department of Energy announces research funding opportunity for ST40
Tokamak Energy’s ST40 fusion test device is eligible for new grant funding as part of the US Department of Energy (DOE ) programme in Fusion Energy Sciences (FES).
The department announced it is interested in receiving grant applications for collaborative research on Tokamak Energy’s ST40 and other domestic (US) spherical tokamak facilities. The DOE anticipates that the total value of grants made under this funding opportunity will be around $10 million.
Tokamak Energy’s Executive Vice Chairman, Dr David Kingham, commented:
“This is great news for Tokamak Energy as it will allow more of the top fusion researchers in the US to work with us. They are interested in the science of high field spherical tokamaks, while we focus on the engineering, control systems and performance enhancement.”
